Brooks Koepka was forced to withdraw from last week's CJ Cup after tweaking his recently repaired left knee. Luckily for him, Presidents Cup captain Tiger Woods is very understanding when it comes to injuries.

"There's no hurry, you are a part of the team," Woods told Koepka regarding a decision to play or not, according to Golf Channel's Rex Hoggard. "Now you have to figure out what's best for your career and your knee. If you can play, great. If you can't, I totally understand and we will cross that bridge when it comes."

Koepka received stem cell treatment on his left knee in the offseason. The 29-year-old was unable to complete last week's tournament after slipping on wet concrete and returned home from South Korea for further tests.

"We're just waiting to see what the surgeons say and see what his protocols will be going forward. That's something he'll keep me abreast of going forward," Woods added. "He's getting other opinions about where his knee is and what his options are. I went through the same thing with my knee and my back."

Koepka earned the top qualifying spot for the American team heading to Melbourne, Australia for December's event. Captain Woods has four selections to make on the week of Nov. 4 to fill out his roster.

In addition to the Koepka dilemma, Tiger has to decide whether or not to pick himself for one of the four remaining spots. He, too, is returning from offseason knee surgery as he makes his 2019-20 debut this week at the Zozo Championship in Japan.

As for the third American who underwent knee surgery in the offseason?

"(Dustin Johnson is) starting to practice now," Tiger said. "He's not full out yet but he's done his rehab and he's progressing. He'll be fine."
