Lashley leads after birdie-filled 1st round at Rocket Mortgage Classic
Nate Lashley fired a 9-under 63 in Round 1 of the inaugural Rocket Mortgage Classic on Thursday.
The 36-year-old holds a one-shot lead over Nick Watney and Ryan Armour after his bogey-free performance at Detroit Golf Club, a par-72 venue.
Chez Reavie picked up right where he left off after winning the Travelers Championship last week, carding a 7-under 65 to sit two back of Lashley.
The scoring average after Round 1 was 69.71 with 121 players of the 156-man field under par. There were 676 birdies made on Thursday, the most in a single round this year.
