Someone bet $85K on Tiger to win Masters
One bettor is apparently feeling very confident that Tiger Woods will take home his fifth green jacket this week.
The unidentified person placed an $85,000 wager on Woods to win the 2019 Masters at 14-1 odds, according to The Associated Press. Woods last won the tournament in 2005.
The bet, which was made Tuesday at a William Hill sportsbook in Las Vegas, will pay out $1.19 million if Woods wins - the company's largest liability ever for a single golf wager in the United States.
William Hill's director of trading, Nick Bogdanovich, told Stephen Hennessey of Golf Digest that he thought the bettor made a mistake at first.
"I thought it was probably an $85 or $8,500 bet," Bogdanovich said. "But they were for real."
Rory McIlroy is the betting favorite to win the Masters at 7-1 odds, followed by Dustin Johnson at 10-1.
