Rory McIlroy is taking his talents north of the border.

The world's No. 4 ranked golfer will participate in the Canadian Open for the first time in his career this June. He'll join a star-studded field featuring world No. 1 Dustin Johnson, Canadian Adam Hadwin, Webb Simpson, Brandt Snedeker, and veteran Jim Furyk. McIlroy edged out Furyk to win last week's Players Championship.

"I'm really excited to play in my first RBC Canadian Open," McIlroy said in a press release. "There continues to be a lot of momentum around this historic tournament, with a new date, new location, and now a new concert series.

"I've had the opportunity to see the passion that Canada has for our sport and I look forward to seeing the energy of Canadian golf fans firsthand. I'm also looking forward to squaring off with DJ, Adam, and the rest of Team RBC for Canada's National Open Championship."

McIlroy is a 15-time winner on the PGA Tour, including four majors.

The Canadian Open will be held at the Hamilton Golf and Country Club from June 3-9, one week before the U.S. Open.
