Koepka: Reed apologized to U.S. Ryder Cup team via group text

Patrick Reed apologized to his Ryder Cup squad via a group text following a viral tirade in which he bashed captain Jim Furyk's decisions over the course of the tournament, teammate Brooks Koepka said.

"Obviously the things with Patrick, it just kinda took on a life of its own. We've got a group text, and there were some texts that were sent, and he kind of apologized for some things," Koepka said Tuesday on WFAN's Boomer and Gio, according to Dylan Dethier of Golf.com.

"I like Patrick, Patrick's a good dude," he said. "He just beats to his own drum. He's very family-oriented, kinda sticks to himself. He's not out playing practice rounds with a lot of guys. He's got his wife, his caddie, his team which is kind of around him. And he's a successful player; he's good at what he does."

Reed took umbrage with being benched twice and separated from Jordan Spieth, with whom he's had plenty of success in the past. Reed ended up being paired with Tiger Woods, and shortly after Reed went public with his comments, an anonymous U.S. team member responded with some heat of his own.

"He is so full of s---," the unidentified teammate said. "Blindsided my ass. He begged to play with Tiger."

Reed ultimately earned one point for the U.S. at the tournament, which Europe took in a landslide with a final score of 17.5 to 10.5.
