Last week in golf: Dufner's new deal, grass-covered Nikes, mic'd-up golfers
"Last week in golf" is a look back at the compelling, funny, and often strange stories from around the golf world over the past seven days.
Dufner's new wipes
Jason Dufner - one of the most laid-back players on the PGA Tour - announced his partnership with "Dude Wipes" this past week, a perfect fit for the male-oriented hygiene products. It's pretty obvious who will have the cleanest behind on Tour this season.
Grass-covered Nikes
A soon-to-be-released edition of Nike golf shoes covered in artificial turf was leaked this past week. The unique design will likely never end up on the feet of Tiger Woods - but imagine what would happen if they did.
Mic'd-up golfers
The Web.com Tour is experimenting with mic'd-up players during its first event of the 2019 season. Up-and-coming star Maverick McNealy was the first player to test out the new broadcast feature.
Whether or not the player in question is overly interesting, mic'd-up golfers should be a staple moving forward. Plus, sound bites like this one are amazing:
New double-hit rule
More new-golf-rules talk, this time regarding people taking advantage of legal double hits. The dreaded chunked chip that you hit twice might be the most embarrassing shot in golf. Not anymore!
Check out these trick shots that probably still wouldn't fly on the PGA Tour but are cool nonetheless:
JT meets Happy Gilmore
Avid golfer Justin Timberlake was filmed at a Top Golf location absolutely crushing this ball with a Happy Gilmore-style swing and generating a perfect draw. Timberlake is nearly a scratch golfer and it shows.
