Kuchar leads by 2 with 18 holes remaining at Sony Open
Matt Kuchar carded a bogey-free, 4-under 66 in Round 3 of the Sony Open in Honolulu, Hawaii to carry a two-shot lead into Sunday's final round.
The 40-year-old did not see as many putts fall in Day 3 as his opening two rounds, but he did manage to hit 16 of 18 greens in regulation, which led to four birdies and an 18-under score through 54 holes.
Andrew Putnam remains in second for the third straight day. He posted a 3-under 67 and will need to overcome a two-shot deficit to collect his second career PGA Tour win.
Keith Mitchell and Chez Reavie are tied in third at 14-under. Mitchell - who shot 63 on Saturday - has played the last 21 holes in 12-under par after closing his second round with a hole-in-one, birdie, and an eagle.
Bryson DeChambeau matched Mitchell's 63 to soar up the leaderboard into a tie for fifth along with eight other players.
