Gary Woodland held off a streaking Brooks Koepka to win the U.S. Open by three shots on Sunday.

The 35-year-old, who held the lead since the halfway mark at Pebble Beach, failed to waver during the final round. He carded a 2-under 69 that ended in style. Woodland made the crowd erupt when he drilled a 30-foot birdie putt on No. 18 to seal his first career major title.

Woodland made only four bogeys this week to finish at 13-under par. It's his fourth win on the PGA Tour.

Koepka made things interesting Sunday despite starting the round four shots off the lead. He opened with four birdies on his first six holes but played the remaining 12 at 1-over to come up short in his bid to win three straight U.S. Open tournaments.

In three major starts this season, Koepka has a win and two runner-up results.

Justin Rose played alongside Woodland in the final pairing. He shot 73 to drop into a share of third place.

Xander Schauffele and Jon Rahm made respective runs on Sunday to climb into the top five. They join Rose and Chez Reavie in a tie for third.

Viktor Hovland took home the top-amateur honors by finishing in a tie for 12th. His 280 total beat Jack Nicklaus' record for the lowest 72-hole score by an amateur at a U.S. Open.
