Jon Rahm took advantage of moving day at The Players Championship, flying up the leaderboard with a scorching 8-under 64 to take a one-shot lead into Sunday's final round.

After a 2-under front nine, Rahm posted 30 on the back nine, coming up one stroke shy of tying the course record at TPC Sawgrass. He sits at 15-under for the tournament.

The 24-year-old holds that slight advantage over his European Ryder Cup teammates Rory McIlroy and Tommy Fleetwood, who both struggled out of the gate as the final pairing in Round 3.

Fleetwood made an opening-hole double-bogey, but then he posted four back-nine birdies to card a 2-under 70.

McIlroy erased back-to-back bogeys to start his third round with three birdies on the front. He recorded another birdie on the back nine and matched Fleetwood's 2-under 70.

Jason Day sits alone in fourth at 12-under par, with Mexico's Abraham Ancer one shot behind at 11-under to round out the top five.

Dustin Johnson (10-under), Patrick Reed (9-under), and Adam Scott (9-under) will need a final round comparable to Rahm's 64 for a shot at winning The Players.

Tiger Woods struggled with the putter in Round 3 en route to an even-par 72. He did, however, manage to birdie the par-3 17th, a day after his disastrous quadruple-bogey. Woods remains at 3-under and in a tie for 43rd.
