Tommy Fleetwood and Keegan Bradley fired matching 7-under rounds of 65 on Thursday at The Players Championship to take a one-shot lead into Round 2.

Fleetwood took advantage of easier scoring conditions in the morning at TPC Sawgrass. The Englishman turned in a bogey-free performance that included six birdies on his closing nine.

Bradley rode a hot putter to the top of the leaderboard after Day 1. He gained over three strokes on the field with his flatstick.

Fleetwood and Bradley also shared the lead after Round 2 of last week's Arnold Palmer Invitational.

Byeong Hun An and Brian Harman are one back of the leaders at 6-under.

Rory McIlroy carried his strong play so far in 2019 into The Players. His bogey-free 67 puts him in a tie for fifth, well within striking distance.

A collection of players sit at 3-under in a tie for 13th, including notables Dustin Johnson, Jon Rahm, Sergio Garcia, Matt Kuchar, Patrick Reed, and Tony Finau.

Tiger Woods nearly joined the group inside the top 15, but a costly bogey on No. 18 dropped him to 2-under to settle for a round of 70.

Two rarities unfolded at TPC Sawgrass in Round 1. Ryan Moore aced the iconic 17th and Harris English made a deuce on the par-5 11th for an albatross.
