Finau named as final captain's pick for American Ryder Cup team
Tony Finau was named the 12th and final member of Team USA for the upcoming Ryder Cup, as Jim Furyk selected him with the final captain's pick in an announcement on Monday.
Finau proved himself worthy with impressive play throughout the FedEx Cup playoffs. He finished in a tie for eighth at the BMW Championship on Monday to go along with a pair of top-five finishes in The Northern Trust and Dell Technologies Championship. He also finished inside the top 10 in three of the four majors this season.
The 28-year-old Finau will make his Ryder Cup debut as a part of a loaded American squad. Dustin Johnson, Justin Thomas, Brooks Koepka, Jordan Spieth, Rickie Fowler, Patrick Reed, Bubba Watson, and Webb Simpson all qualified automatically through the points system, with Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, and Bryson DeChambeau named as the three other captain's picks.
The European team was set last Wednesday when captain Thomas Bjorn announced all four of his captain's picks.
The 42nd Ryder Cup will be played from Sept. 28-30 in Paris, France at Le Golf National.
