Schauffele holds 2-shot lead after 36 holes at BMW Championship
Xander Schauffele carded an impressive 6-under 64 in Round 2 at the BMW Championship to sit at 13-under for the tournament and take a two-shot lead into the weekend.
The Ryder Cup hopeful made seven birdies in the first group out on Friday, draining lengthy putts to lead the field in strokes gained: putting. Schauffele teed off at 7:00 a.m. ET after times were moved up due to expected inclement weather.
Justin Rose sits alone in second after a 7-under 63 and is in a great position to win for the second time at Aronimink Golf Club after taking down the AT&T National in 2010.
Keegan Bradley, Alex Noren, Rickie Fowler, and Hideki Matsuyama are all tied for third at 10-under, creating a logjam near the top of the leaderboard.
Tiger Woods (-8) and Rory McIlroy (-9), the first-round leaders, struggled in Friday's action, carding 70 and 69, respectively. The duo lost over six strokes putting combined in Round 2.
Jordan Spieth (-2) put his chances of making the Tour Championship in jeopardy after shooting 1-over Friday. As it stands now, he is projected to finish 32nd on the FedEx Cup points list, and only the top 30 advance to the season finale.
The low rounds of the day belong to Tommy Fleetwood (-7) and Kevin Na (-8), who both turned in 62s to storm up the leaderboard.
