Spieth feels his game is back despite poor Sunday at The Open

Jordan Spieth failed to capitalize after sharing the 54-hole lead at The Open, but believes he's returned to form despite shooting 76 on Sunday.

"My game altogether is back," Spieth said in his post-round press conference. "My stroke is there - it's back, which feels awesome."

Spieth's tied-for-ninth result at Carnoustie was his first top-20 finish since the Masters, in what's been an underwhelming 2018 campaign to date.

"I've had different periods of every single part of my game being at a low point in my career throughout this year, not all at the same time, but enough to where I haven't been able to really compete," he said.

Spieth added that he was "very pleased coming out of this week" despite his birdie-free 5-over final round.

Perhaps his solid showing at The Open will act as a catalyst for the remainder of the season, as his search for the career Grand Slam will begin on Aug. 9 at the PGA Championship.
