JoAnne 'Big Mama' Carner, 79, shoots her age at U.S. Women's Senior Open

JoAnne "Big Mama" Carner is aging like a fine wine.

The 79-year-old World Golf Hall of Famer amazingly shot her age at the inaugural U.S. Women's Senior Open on Thursday.

While it's quite an accomplishment, the 43-time winner on the LPGA Tour wasn't all that pleased with the results.

"No, I just hit some atrocious shots," Carner said, according to Golfweek's Beth Ann Nichols. "Like golf 101.

"Really, I can shoot this course under par."

With a swing smoother than a baby's bottom, there's little reason to believe that she can't shoot under par. After all, Nichols estimates "Big Mama" can still stripe the ball 225 yards off the tee.

Carner's incredible accomplishment came in dramatic fashion, too. Heading into the final hole with a score of 75, she birdied the par-5 18th to break 80 and shoot her age.

"Big Mama" has momentum on her side as well. She started off rough, bogeying the first four holes and finishing 7-over on the front nine, but bounced back to shoot 1-under on the back nine.

Carner, who sat in a tie for 40th after the first round, tees off at 1:10 p.m. ET on Friday, and you can bet she'll be out in full force, cigarette and all.
