Bryson DeChambeau will not be defending his John Deere Classic title, withdrawing from the event Thursday.

He was shown on the broadcast rubbing and stretching his right shoulder numerous times during his opening round.

After a noticeably short follow-through on his tee shot at the par-3 16th, the 24-year-old picked up his ball and called it quits.

He was 3-over after 15 holes.

"Hopefully by next week I'll be ready to go," DeChambeau told reporters after his round according to Ryan Lavner of Golf Channel.

The Open Championship is set to take place at Carnoustie next week.
