The PGA Tour announced on Tuesday that a bevy of changes are coming to next season's schedule.

Among the most notable differences, the FedEx Cup Playoffs will now have three events instead of four: the Northern Trust from Aug. 5-11 (125 players), the BMW Championship from Aug. 12-18 (70 players), and the Tour Championship from Aug. 19-25 (30 players).

The biggest result of this change is the FedEx Cup Playoffs will now conclude before the NFL and college football seasons begin, thus not forcing sports fans to choose between the two.

As previously announced, one of the season's biggest events, The Players Championship, will take place March 11-17 instead of in May. The PGA Championship will now move from August to take The Players' old slot in the middle of May (13-19).

Two new tournaments will also join the fold next season, which was already announced, but the dates are now confirmed. The Rocket Mortgage Classic will take place June 24-30 in Detroit, making it the first PGA Tour tournament to be held in the Motor City. The 3M Open at TPC Twin Cities will be held July 1-7, switching from a Champions tournament to a PGA Tour event.

Elsewhere around the Tour, the RBC Canadian Open receives a cushy slot from June 3-9 ahead of the U.S. Open, while the Puerto Rico Open will return for February 18-24, as the aftermath of Hurricane Maria forced a cancellation this season.
