Tiger fails to move up after 3rd-round 68 at Quicken Loans National

Tiger Woods needed to go low in Round 3 to put himself in the mix for Sunday's finale, but his 2-under 68 failed to pick up any shots on the leaders.

Woods bogeyed his first but proceeded to rattle off four straight birdies from No. 4 to No. 7, walking in putt after putt, leading to a 3-under 32 on the front nine.

However, two missed birdie putts from inside 10 feet to open the back nine took the wind out of Woods' sails.

The two-time Quicken Loans National winner also gave a stroke back on the 18th, getting to the clubhouse at 7-under through three rounds.

Woods entered Saturday four shots off the lead, and despite making six birdies on the day, now sits six back of leader Abraham Ancer.

The 42-year-old put together another solid round with the flat stick, but hit only six of 14 fairways, failing to put himself in premium scoring positions.
