After sneaking inside the cut, Rory McIlroy made the most of moving day at the Memorial, firing an 8-under 64 to move into a tie for fourth place with much of the field left to play.
McIlroy effectively erased a pedestrian opening two rounds with a bogey-free Saturday, which featured six birdies and an eagle through his first 13 holes.
The eagle came on the par-5 fifth, where he displayed remarkable touch on a perfect chip from the bunker.
After three consecutive birdies on the back nine, McIlroy cooled down and concluded his round with five pars in a row, placing him five strokes off the lead.
