Johnson now betting favorite after sizzling 66 to open The Players
After posting the best round of his Players Championship career Thursday, Dustin Johnson has been installed as the favorite to win the prestigious event.
The world's top-ranked player fired a sizzling 6-under-par 66 to sit in a six-way tie for the lead after 18 holes of action. That saw Johnson's odds move to 5-1 after he opened the tournament at 16-1 to claim the trophy.
Patrick Cantlay, one of the six men tied for the lead, is next at 12-1, while Jon Rahm is two shots off the pace and listed at 14-1. A star-studded quartet of Henrik Stenson, Jason Day, Alex Noren, and Matt Kuchar follow at 16-1.
Here are the top names on the updated betting board, including Tiger Woods at 100-1 after an even-par 72 left him six shots back.
