Tiger Woods carded a 5-under 67, putting on a remarkable performance for the galleries in attendance during Round 2 of the Memorial Tournament.
His 3-under 33 on the front nine included four birdies and set the stage for big things to come.
With a wedge in hand and only 95 yards out, the 14-time major champion put the crowd into a euphoric state, holing out for eagle on the par-5 11th. The eagle moved Woods to 5-under on the day and within striking distance of the leaders.
On the following hole, Tiger hit the flag on the 184-yard par 3, leaving himself slightly over 5 feet to get to 6-under.
That's when the horns sounded, as inclement weather halted play and seemingly took the wind out of Tiger's sails.
After nearly an hour-and-a-half delay, play resumed and Woods missed the remaining birdie putt on No. 12.
The five-time Memorial champion would go on to play the remaining six holes at even par, which included a harsh lip-out for birdie on No. 13, and a missed 3-footer for par on No. 17.
Woods gained over 4.5 strokes on approach shots in Round 2 but gave most of them away due to an ice-cold putter.
Tiger heads into the weekend tied for 24th, six shots behind leaders Kyle Stanley and Joaquin Niemann.
