PGA picks: McIlroy rebounds from missed cut with win at Riviera

For the second straight week, the viewers are in for a visual treat from California on the PGA Tour.

Last week was the oceanside setting of Pebble Beach, and this week the venue is the historic Riviera Country Club surrounded by the bright lights of Beverly Hills.

Tiger Woods returns for the Genesis Open, which only brings more attention to a loaded field that features 14 of the top 25 players in the world.

Here's who to target on the betting board for what should be an incredible weekend.

Favorite to watch (odds less than 25-1)

Rory McIlroy

After opening with a solid 68 last week at Pebble Beach, McIlroy battled putting woes and missed the cut at the AT&T Pro-Am. It was his first time playing in the event, and the familiar scene at Riviera should certainly help the 28-year-old get back on track. McIlroy blitzed the course for rounds of 67, 69, and 67 to sit in fifth place heading to the final 18. He would fade to a 75, but showed in the event that he can get around the famed course in a tidy fashion. That will show again this week as McIlroy notches his first PGA Tour win since the 2016 Tour Championship.

Odds to win: 12-1
Top-5 odds: 5-2

Second tier (odds 25-1 or greater)

Thomas Pieters

The long-hitting Belgian had no trouble with the tricky greens of Riviera last year, putting on a putting clinic on his way to a second-place showing. There are few players longer than Pieters, and the 26-year-old comes in hot with a fifth and 32nd place showing in his last two events.

Odds to win: 40-1
Top-5 odds: 8-1

Long shot (odds 50-1 or greater)

Bubba Watson

A pick for Bubba Watson is one that follows the "horses for courses" theory, as the free-swinging veteran has won this event twice in the past. He's also finished with six top-20s in his last 10 starts at Riviera, so it would be a shock if he wasn't in the mix this weekend. His driving prowess plays well on this track, and Watson enters with two straight made cuts under his belt.

Odds to win: 50-1
Top-5 odds: 8-1

Super long shot (odds 80-1 or greater)

Sang-moon Bae

After missing six straight cuts, Bae finally showed some quality form with a 15th-place finish last week at Pebble Beach. Prior to missing two years due to South Korean military service, Bae was a money performer at Riviera with three top-12 finishes in as many years. It's a longshot, but don't be shocked if the 31-year-old makes a run this weekend.

Odds to win: 100-1
Top-5 odds: 25-1

Hit this bet, buy a car (odds 125-1 or greater)

Luke List

There are few players longer off the tee than Luke List, as the 33-year-old is fourth on Tour in driving distance. That comes in handy around Riviera, and List does have a 20th-place showing in 2016 at the course to his name. He comes in showing strong form with a 12th at the Farmers Insurance Open, and 26th in the Phoenix Open. At 125-1, he's worth a wager.

Odds to win: 125-1
Top-5 odds: 20-1
