Tiger Woods has never played the Valspar Championship in his career, but that may change this year.

Woods opened up his season at Torrey Pines and is scheduled to play the Genesis Open next week at Riviera Country Club, but hasn't officially committed to any other event. The 14-time major champ has historically played the Honda Classic and Bay Hill, but likely won't qualify for the two World Golf Championship events prior to the Masters, bringing the Valspar very much into play.

"Really, this is the best chance," tournament director Tracy West told Rodney Page of the Tampa Bay Times. "Actually, about winter of last year we thought perhaps maybe, but then that didn’t happen. But if there was ever a time. I stay in constant contact with his agent, Mark Steinberg. We are still on the possibility list. At least we are not a no."

The tournament - which has Rory McIlroy, Sergio Garcia, and Bubba Watson in the field - categorized Woods as "UNDECIDED (Possible)" on its list earlier in the week.

The 42-year-old is ranked 546th in the world, but is coming off an impressive T23 showing at the Farmers Insurance Open.
