Robert Garrigus nearly became the second golfer in PGA Tour history to record a hole-in-one on a par 4 at the Phoenix Open on Friday.

Garrigus' launched a 3-wood at the par-4 17th that was tracking straight for the bottom of the cup for the rare feat. His shot, however, crashed off the flagstick, finishing inches from the pin.

The 40-year-old would brush home the eagle putt, pushing inside the projected cut line to play the weekend.

Andrew Magee recorded the first and only hole-in-one on a par 4 back in 2001, accomplishing the feat in the same event and on the same hole.
