Hughes cards opening-round 69 at Phoenix Open

Mackenzie Hughes posted an opening-round 69 at the Waste Management Phoenix Open on Thursday.
Hughes made two birdies and two bogeys on the front nine, but rebounded on the back side, birdying both par-5 holes to finish at 2-under par for the day.
The Dundas, Ontario native struggled off the tee, finding only 21 percent of the fairways, but averaged 1.667 putts per GIR on Day 1, and sits in a tie for 29th place heading into Friday.
Hughes will tee off at 2:38 p.m. ET on Friday with Ryan Armour and Jonas Blixt.
