Tiger Woods was pleased with his performance last week in the Farmers Insurance Open and is excited to tee it up in two weeks' time at the Genesis Open.

"I am fired up to return to Riviera," Woods wrote on the tournament website. "I first attended the tournament when I was 9 or 10, my dad took me there. We went a few more times and then I tried to qualify a couple times."

Riviera Country Club was the site of his first career PGA Tour start in 1992 at the age of 16. He fired rounds of 75 and 72 en route to missing the cut. He hasn't returned to Hogan's Alley since 2006

"Maybe I could have made up a couple more shots per round, but I felt pretty good about it," Woods said of his first PGA Tour experience as a competitor. "Then I looked at the scoreboard and I'm 17 strokes behind Davis Love III. It was eye-opening knowing that I was really not that good. I thought I could play the game, but obviously I wasn't worth a lick compared to these guys, and had a long way to go."

Despite Woods' connection to the area and event, the 14-time major champ hasn't won the tournament in 11 tries, with a pair of runner-up results in 1998 and 1999.

"I've had several chances to win at Riviera, but just haven't gotten it done. Obviously, it would mean a lot to me, even more now as tournament host."

The event has benefited the Tiger Woods Foundation since 2017.
