Tiger Woods concluded his week with an even-par 72 on Sunday at the Farmers Insurance Open, finishing at 3-under par for the tournament.

Woods, who was playing in his first event of 2018, hit just three fairways in his round for the third straight day, but was much sharper with his approach shots, making four birdies and four bogeys.

"I played a lot better today," Woods told Dottie Pepper of CBS after the round. "It was tough conditions out there, it was tough scoring. I really wanted to shoot something probably around 65 ... I thought that might be a playoff number."

The 14-time major champ shot four rounds of par or better for just the third time since 2013, and was delighted with how he played the entire week on a difficult layout.

"Very pleased," added Woods. "After not playing for a couple of years and then coming out here on the tour ... playing a solid four days. I fought hard for these scores."

Woods isn't slated to play the next two events, but has committed to compete in the Genesis Open at historic Riviera Country Club, and will use the time between starts to hone his game.

"Just like it was after I played in the Bahamas, I have to work on everything," said Woods. "We're going to do the same here, and I'm excited to get this one under my belt."
