Justin Thomas didn't win Sunday at the Hero World Challenge, but he did get some really good news midway through his final round.

After finishing the par-3 eighth hole, Thomas' caddie informed the reigning PGA champion that Alabama snagged the final spot in the College Football Playoff.

The 24-year-old found the fairway with his tee shot at No. 9, then dropped his 5-wood approach on the green for an eagle attempt.

Thomas made the eagle putt at the ninth, then made four birdies and a double on the back nine to post a final-round 68.

The Crimson Tide will face Clemson in the Sugar Bowl on Jan. 1.
