Rory McIlroy is sticking with friend Harry Diamond as his caddie for the 2018 golf season, according to Ewan Murray from the Guardian.

McIlroy split with long-time partner J.P. Fitzgerald after finishing in a tie for fourth at The Open in July, hiring Diamond on a temporary basis just prior to the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational.

"It was good. A little weird at the start. Obviously, it's been nine years since I've had anyone else on my bag, so even just hearing a different voice, it's a little different," McIlroy told pgatour.com at the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational. "But I thought we did well out there, sort of consulted each other when we needed to. I sort of did all my own stuff when I felt like I was good and then whatever decisions I made, whether they were good or bad, it was on me. Didn't have anyone to get frustrated at other than myself."

The 28-year-old is coming off a disappointing 2017 season, battling a rib injury the entire year while going winless worldwide for the first time since 2008.

The Northern Irishman will make his 2018 debut at the European Tour's Abu Dhabi Championship in January, which commences a busy schedule for McIlroy in the lead up to Augusta National in early April.

McIlroy needs only The Masters to complete the career grand slam.
