What Tiger had to say after 2nd-round 68 at Hero World Challenge
Tiger Woods followed up a great start Thursday with a brilliant round Friday at the Hero World Challenge.
Woods posted a 4-under-par 68 on Day 2, moving up the leaderboard and into contention heading into the weekend at 7-under par for the tournament. The 14-time major champ went out in 5-under-par 31, grabbing the lead with an eagle on No. 9, but dropped a shot over the final nine.
Here's what the 79-time PGA Tour winner said after his round:
On his quick start:
"I felt more comfortable on the first few holes," Woods told reporters. "I knew what the adrenaline was going to feel like, which was nice. It was definitely coursing through my system, and it was a great feeling."
On his problem with greens on Friday:
"Had a difficult time all day with my speed on the greens. They seemed to be about a foot faster. They were dry, they were rolling out and I airmailed a few of them well past the hole. But I really did struggle with my speed."
On the proximity to being in top form:
"I'm just getting back, so I've still got a long ways to go," Woods told the Golf Channel. "That's going to take time. A lot more practice, a lot more training and more tournaments."
On the amount of people rooting for him in his return:
"I think it's very flattering, very humbling that so many people really enjoyed what I've done throughout my first 20 years on Tour," Woods said. "I put a few smiles and a few excitements into people's lives, and as an athlete, it's very humbling."
On his chances of winning this weekend:
