Turning point? Thomas makes unreal birdie at 10th

Michael Madrid-USA TODAY Sports

If Justin Thomas wins the 99th PGA Championship for his first career major, he's going to look back at the par-5 10th hole as the turning point.

Thomas received a massive break off the tee, after it initially appeared he pulled his drive well into the trees on the left. Instead, his ball caromed back into the fairway, giving him a chance to reach the green in two shots.

The 24-year-old American would take advantage, hoisting a towering fairway wood that finished just behind the green. After leaving his third attempt short, Thomas' eight-foot birdie putt stayed on the lip of the hole, and it looked like he'd have to settle for par.

But then gravity took over for the Kentuckian.

Many thought Thomas waited too long for the putt to drop, but it was well within his allotted window of 15 seconds.
