Tway sets PGA Tour season record with 7 straight birdies at John Deere

Michael Madrid-USA TODAY Sports

Kevin Tway made seven straight birdies Friday in the John Deere Classic, breaking the longest streak of six this season on the PGA Tour.

Tway - who began his round on the back side - opened with six straight pars, but holed a 23-foot birdie putt at the par-3 16th to start his string of seven in a row.

Tway's career best prior to Friday was four in a row, set in 2012, and later equaled in the first round of the Puerto Rico Open back in March.

Adam Hadwin, Whee Kim, Patton Kizzire, Francesco Molinari, Jon Rahm, and Justin Thomas all held the previous mark of six.
