Spieth leads by 1 after 2nd round of Travelers Championship

Bill Streicher-USA TODAY Sports

It wasn't one of Jordan Spieth's better days on the golf course, but he still managed to shoot a 1-under-par 69 on Friday, and holds a one-shot lead at the Travelers Championship.

Spieth was spot-on in his opening-round 63, but admitted after his second round that he wasn't as sharp on the TPC River Highlands layout.

"Things were just a little bit off today," he told pgatour.com after his round. "I didn't feel like it was much harder than yesterday, just had an off round and was able to hold it at 1-under."

The Texan sits at 8-under par for the tournament, one ahead of Troy Merritt and Patrick Read, while Wesley Bryan, Daniel Summerhays, Chase Seiffert, and Boo Weekley are tied in fourth place.

Jason Day and Bubba Watson finished at 2-over par for the week, missing the 36-hole cut.
