PGA Tour Power Rankings: Johnson remains No. 1

It's hard to believe, but there are just 16 weeks left in the 2016-17 PGA Tour season, and it hasn't disappointed thus far. With the U.S. Open just two weeks away, here are the 10 best players on tour to date. The rankings are based on how a player has performed this season, and not what he has done over the last year.
10. Justin Rose

OWR: 11
Best result: 2nd (Sony Open, The Masters)
The Olympic champion hasn't missed an individual cut this season, producing four top-10 and six top-25 results in 10 starts. Rose held a two-shot lead with six holes to go at Augusta, but lost in a playoff to Sergio Garcia. The Englishman didn't play well at THE PLAYERS, posting a T-65 result, but not many big names did well that week either.
9. Kevin Kisner

OWR: 19
Best result: 1st (Dean & DeLuca Invitational)
Kisner is enjoying his best season on the PGA Tour, snagging a win at Colonial, and recording two runner-up finishes. The 33-year-old has six top-10s, 10 top-25s, and missed two cuts in 16 starts. Kisner is fifth in total strokes gained, fifth in official money, and sixth in the FedEx Cup standings.
8. Rory McIlroy

OWR: 2
Best result: T-4 (Bay Hill, WGC-HSBC)
The Northern Irishman has been battling a back and rib injury this season, which has prevented him from entering much competition. However, in the events that McIlroy has played this seaosn, he performed well. The 28-year-old has four top-7 results in just six tournaments, a scoring average of 69.31, and his highest score was a final-round 75 at THE PLAYERS. McIlroy would be higher up, but the sample size is just too small, and potential doesn't equal performance.
7. Hideki Matsuyama

OWR: 4
Best result: 1st (WGC-HSBC Champions, Phoenix Open)
Matsuyama was unstoppable earlier in the season, but has come back to the pack since his victory in Phoenix. Still though, the 25-year-old has accumulated four top-10s, seven top-25s, missed one cut, and had a T-11 result at Augusta. The Japanese native sits 11th in scoring average (69.96), second in official money, and third in the FedEx Cup standings.
6. Justin Thomas

OWR: 13
Best result: 1st (CIMB Classic, SBS, Sony)
Thomas began the 2017 year on fire out in Hawaii, grabbing two wins, and became the seventh PGA Tour player to post a sub-60 round in an event. The 24-year-old slowed a bit when his game reached mainland America, but still leads in birdie average, and is ranked fourth in scoring (69.68).
5. Rickie Fowler

OWR: 9
Best result: 1st (Honda Classic)
After failing to win an event in 2016, Fowler got back into the winner's circle at PGA National in March. The 28-year-old has five top-10s, eight top-25 results, and aside from the Zurich team format, has missed just one cut this year. Fowler is ranked first in total strokes gained, second in scoring (69.31) this season, while also sitting third in birdie average.
4. Jordan Spieth

OWR: 6
Best result: 1st (AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am)
The two-time major champion had a rough stretch when he missed three cuts in four starts, but he rebounded with a T-2 result at Colonial. Spieth has six top-10s, 10 top-25s, and the third-best scoring average this season (69.41). The Texan hasn't been sensational in the opening two rounds this year, which explains the three missed cuts, but he's statistically the best player on the weekend.
3. Sergio Garcia

OWR: 5
Best result: 1st (The Masters)
While it wasn't a PGA Tour event, Garcia set the tone for his season in Dubai back in February, going wire-to-wire to claim his 12th European Tour title. The Spaniard would carry that confidence into Augusta, where he gutted out his first major championship, beating Justin Rose in a playoff. Garcia hasn't missed a cut, has seven top-15 results, and has the best scoring average on tour this season (69.30).
2. Jon Rahm

OWR: 10
Best result: 1st (Farmers Insurance Open)
The young Spaniard has looked like a veteran in his first full season on tour, missing just one cut and recording seven top-10 results. Rahm is third in total strokes gained, fifth in birdies, sixth scoring average (69.76), and is 98-under par for the season.
1. Dustin Johnson

OWR: 1
Best result: 1st (Genesis, WGC-Mexico, WGC-Match Play)
Despite missing the cut at the Memorial, Johnson has been on a roll this season. The 33-year-old is ranked second in total strokes gained, first in greens in regulation on the tour, has the fifth-best scoring average (69.74), and will be looking to defend his U.S. Open title in a couple weeks at Erin Hills.
