David Duval withdrew from the Open Championship field with an unspecified injury before teeing off on his second round Friday at Royal Troon.
The 2001 champion shot an 82 for his opening round.
Duval will stay busy in Scotland - and find safe haven as the inclement weather ratchets up - as he continues to moonlight as an analyst for the Golf Channel.
He will remain exempt for another 15 years, for those scoring at home.
