World Cup winners dominate U.S. women's squad for Tokyo Olympics
United States women's national team head coach Vlatko Andonovski named his 18-player squad for the delayed Tokyo 2020 games on Wednesday.
The Olympic roster is awash with experience, with every player except Kristie Mewis - sister of authoritative midfielder Samantha - boasting a winners' medal from the 2019 Women's World Cup. Eleven members of the squad also featured at the 2016 Olympics in Brazil.
Carli Lloyd, who turns 39 next month, was included in the traveling party, along with Julie Ertz and Tobin Heath, both of whom have been struggling with injuries.
