Mo Farah completes the double, winning 5000m gold

Great Britain's Mo Farah became the second man to defend Olympic titles in the 5000m and 10000m, completing the double Saturday with an expert run in Rio.

''It's every athlete's dream but I can't believe it,'' the 33-year-old Farah said. ''I just want to go home now and see my beautiful kids and hang my medals around their necks.''

Farah held off a strong challenge from Hagos Gebrhiwet, eventually pulling away from the Ethiopian as he turned the final corner.

''I controlled it and I wasn't going to let anyone pass me,'' Farah said, ''and then in the end I just used my speed.''

His four golds extends his record for the most ever by a British track athlete.

Gebrhiwet was initially awarded silver and Bernard Lagat the bronze when Lagat's U.S. teammate, Paul Chelino, was disqualified at the end of a very physical race. But after officials convened, it was decided Chelino would be reinstated, thus dropping Gebrhiwet to bronze and the 41-year-old Lagat to sixth.
