Taurasi sets record for most 3s in a women's Olympic tournament

Diana Taurasi is making it rain in Rio.

The 5-foot-11 guard-forward set a new women's basketball record for made 3-pointers in the Olympics after notching No. 28 on Thursday night in Team USA's 86-67 win over France

The 34-year-old Taurasi led the Americans with 18 points in the contest, including a trio hit from deep, five rebounds, and four assists.

She set the U.S. 3-point record with five made in a game in 2008 in London, and surpassed that earlier this tournament against Serbia when she drilled six treys.

After making 67 threes on 38.6 percent shooting in 23 games this season for the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury, she's sunk 28 at a 56 percent clip .

Taurasi will look to increase her lead in the history books in the gold medal game versus Spain on Saturday.
