A Russian swimming official says he has been the victim of an armed robbery in Rio.
Evgeny Korotyshkin, a silver medalist in 2012 who is not competing at the Rio Olympics, says in an Instagram post that two armed people approached him near Ipanema beach, away from the Olympic venues, and forced him to hand over the contents of his pockets.
Korotyshkin says he was unhurt and "exchanged what I had in my pockets for a gripping story for posterity." He suggests he didn't lose much in the way of valuables, adding that the robbery was "not costly, but worrying."
Korotyskin won silver behind Michael Phelps in the men's 100-meter butterfly in 2012 and has since become a swimming official in Moscow.
