Alexander Edler: Likely out six weeks
Edler has been dealt a six-week timetable for his return from a fractured fibula.
Analysis:
Edler's long-term absence will force the club to shuffle their defensive pairings to account for the big loss of the team's leader in average ice time (24:27 per game). In addition, the Canucks lost a valuable contributor on the power play. It appears Chris Tanev may be the biggest beneficiary on that front, receiving 3:13 of power-play time in the last game, compared to an average of 1:06 on the season. Edler should continue to warrant updates as he begins the road to recovery, but a return remains a ways off at this point.
