Report: MSG employees fired for reselling Knicks, Rangers tickets
Madison Square Garden has fired about half a dozen employees after discovering that ticket sales executives were reselling face-value tickets to New York Knicks and New York Rangers games at marked-up prices, according to the New York Post's Josh Kosman.
"It was uncovered through an internal investigation that a small handful of employees were breaking company policies and, as a result, they were relieved of their responsibilities," an MSG spokesman told The Post.
Kosman reports that several executives, including the senior vice president of ticket sales and corporate hospitality, were caught flipping tickets on secondary market sites like StubHub for higher than face value.
ESPN's Ian Begley added that the average resale price for Knicks tickets this season is $260.71, while Rangers tickets tend to go for $247.97 after the markup.
This isn't the first time MSG has had to dismiss staff members due to such scalping scandals. In 1996, the company fired five ticket office employees for reselling tickets.
