This isn't the way the Winnipeg Jets wanted to come back from the holiday break.

Mark Scheifele was hurt Saturday during a practice drill.

"Looks like a couple of stitches right now, and we'll give it some time (to) see how he's feeling tomorrow," head coach Paul Maurice said.

Scheifele's head inadvertently collided with Andrew Ladd, and the center had to be escorted off the ice by teammates while bleeding and appearing woozy, according to Kirk Penton of the Winnipeg Sun.

The 22-year-old has nine points in his last nine games, and 22 points in 34 contests this season.
