Mark Borowiecki's role in Sunday's game against the Tampa Bay Lightning was reduced to a brief cameo.
The Ottawa Senators defenseman laid a seemingly clean hit on Brian Boyle, whose face then hit the ice before Braydon Coburn dropped the gloves with Borowiecki less than two minutes in:
Borowiecki was given a five-minute major for interference, a five-minute major for fighting, and a game misconduct.
Coburn received a two-minute instigator penalty, five for fighting, and a 10-minute misconduct.
Boyle didn't return for the rest of the period, and the Lightning later announced he wouldn't return for the duration of the game.
The club had no further update on his condition following the game.
