Report: Flames place Ortio on waivers

The Calgary Flames placed goaltender Joni Ortio on waivers Wednesday, according to Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet.
The 24-year-old is yet to record a win this season and hasn't appeared in a game since October. If he clears, he'll be sent to the AHL's Stockton Heat, who play three games in the next four nights.
The move may indicate that fellow goalie Jonas Hiller is close to a return, having been out since Oct. 28 due to a hip issue. Karri Ramo, who was waived earlier in the season, has started all 10 games in November, compiling a 5-5-0 record.
The Flames also sent defenseman Ladislav Smid to Stockton for a conditioning stint. He has been held pointless in four games this season.
