Kings suspend prospect Bartosak in wake of domestic violence allegations
The Los Angeles Kings announced that they have suspended Patrik Bartosak without pay in response to domestic assault allegations brought against the goaltending prospect with the Manchester Monarchs.
"Our response in this matter reflects our extreme disappointment, particularly given the programs we have instituted internally and the commitment our organization has made to educating our players on the prevention of domestic violence," the Kings wrote in a statement.
Bartosak is facing 12 charges related to domestic violence stemming from an incident with his girlfriend, including a second-degree assault charge for attempting to strangle her and three criminal charges for threatening to kill her, the New Hampshire Union Leader reported Tuesday.
The Kings established a new personal conduct policy and announced plans for further educational initiatives before the season.
Bartosak appeared in just two pro games this season, both on a conditioning assignment in the East Coast Hockey League.
