Carolina Hurricanes head coach Bill Peters told reporters Sunday that the upper-body injury suffered by defenseman Ryan Murphy during Saturday's game against the Philadelphia Flyers is a concussion.

Peters added Murphy will "continue to go through protocol." The team has no immediate plans to recall a player from Charlotte of the AHL. Michal Jordan and Noah Hanifin were paired together during Sunday's practice, Chip Alexander of the Raleigh News & Observer reports.

Murphy has four assists and a plus-1 rating through 17 games.
