The Washington Capitals were eventually able to eke out a 3-2 shootout win over the Toronto Maple Leafs on Saturday, but only forced the extra session with milliseconds to spare.

Nicklas Backstrom piled on to the Maple Leafs' seemingly unending woes, knotting Saturday's game at two with a game-saving buzzer beater scored with one second left on the game clock.
