Penguins' Crosby to be part of Canada's 2016 World Cup initial roster
It's hard to imagine a scenario where Pittsburgh Penguins forward Sidney Crosby won't make Canada's 2016 World Cup of Hockey roster. Luckily, there's no need to.
Team general manager Doug Armstrong introduced his coaching staff Thursday in Toronto and though he didn't reveal the roster, he did note Crosby will most certainly be among those representing the red and white.
"There is no discussion about Sidney," Armstrong said. "He will be part of the first group of 16 players."
Crosby captained Canada to a gold medal at the 2014 Olympics in Sochi and scored the "Golden Goal" at the 2010 Olympic Games in Vancouver.
Crosby is a member of the IIHF "Triple Gold Club" having captured gold at the Olympics, the World Championship, and the Stanley Cup.
Canada will name it's initial roster of 16 players by March 1 and it's full 23-man roster by June 1.
