Detroit Red Wings forward Brad Richards will not require surgery to mend his ailing back, general manager Ken Holland said, according to George Sipple of the Detroit Free Press.

The veteran forward will, however, miss one to two weeks, said Holland.

Richards recorded two assists in a half dozen games to begin his tenure with Detroit before succumbing to injury.
