Devils' Gionta fined for spear; won't be suspended

New Jersey Devils forward Stephen Gionta was fined $2,284.95 for spearing Ottawa Senators defenseman Mark Borowiecki on Thursday.

Gionta received a five-minute major penalty on the play and was tossed from the game.
The 32-year-old is pointless through seven games, averaging 11:15 of time on ice a night.
