The San Jose Sharks have signed defenseman Cavan Fitzgerald to a standard entry-level contract, general manager Doug Wilson announced Wednesday.
The 19-year-old attended training camp on a tryout basis and returned to the QMJHL's Halifax Mooseheads, for whom he's recorded three goals and two assists in his first seven games this season.
Fitzgerald recorded 31 points (four goals, 27 assists) in 40 games as a rookie last season, leading all Halifax blue-liners in points and tied for fourth among all QMJHL rookie defensemen.
